Northeast Interceptor Rehabilitation Phase 2
5,500 LF of 20” DI Pipe Bursting – The size and scope of the $4.7 Million NEI Rehabilitation Phase 2 project attributed to the uniqueness of this project. At more than 5,000 LF of 20-inch DIP bursting, the NEI Rehabilitation Phase 2 project was ground breaking. As of this date the project remains one of the largest, if not the largest, DIP pipe bursting projects ever attempted in the United States.
Pipe bursting is a trenchless method used for pipe replacement where the existing pipe is split apart and used as a conduit for the installation of the new pipe. The benefits of pipe bursting are cost savings, minimizing disruptions, and reducing the time needed to install new pipe using the direct bury method.
