McAlpine Creek Relief Sewer Phase 4

The project included the installation of 10,020 LF of 30” and 6,608 LF of 36” PVC and ductile iron gravity sewer, 34 ea. 5’ diameter manholes, 5 ea. 6’ diameter manholes, 2 ea. 7’ diameter manholes, 1 ea. 8’ diameter manholes, 7 ea. Creek crossings across McAlpine Creek, 14 connections to existing sewer mains requiring large sewer bypass systems. The project was a relief sewer that was designed to help eliminate aerial creek crossings. Pipe was installed in an outfall at depths from 8’ to 34’ in rocky and sometimes wet conditions. The project also required 3 hand mined tunnels under NCDOT roads.
