The N.C. Department of Labor presented State Utility Contractors with a Silver Award on May 9 during the Union County Chamber of Commerce’s annual safety awards luncheon. NCDOL’s awards program recognizes firms that achieve and maintain good safety records. The program is designed to stimulate interest in accident prevention and promote safety in the workplace. Labor Commissioner Cherie Berry presents awards annually to employers who have had no fatalities and have maintained an incidence rate below the average for its industry group. Silver Award recipients are based on the cases with days away from work that are 50 percent below the industry average.
