NUCOR Gravity Sewer

This project included the installation of 9,291’ of 24” PVC and DIP gravity sewer at depths up to 22 feet. Scope also included a 42” bore under Clarksbury Church Road and a 42” hand mine tunnel beneath the CSX Railroad. Three additional bores were value engineered to open-cut installations to reduce project costs, requiring detours and coordination of road closures with NCDOT and local authorities. The project also included construction of a pump station and installation of 2,100’ of 4” force main with two directional drills along Clarksbury Church Road. Due to predominantly rock conditions and the proximity of sensitive properties, rock was excavated using hydraulic hammers rather than drilling and blasting.
